Discogs is the library. Vinyl Quest is the hunt.
Discogs is the definitive vinyl database and marketplace — 19 million users, 15 million+ releases, the infrastructure of the hobby. It assumes you already know what you want. You search for a specific release and buy it or add it to a want list.
Vinyl Quest is built around how collectors actually think and behave. The Quest List is a guided hunt, not a bookmark. The Curator helps you figure out what to look for. The community shows you what people like you are finding. The store connection puts you in front of inventory that matches what you're hunting.
Most serious collectors will use both — Discogs for the marketplace, Vinyl Quest for the hunt. They serve different parts of the same obsession.
The Curator is Vinyl Quest's AI vinyl advisor — available to Vinyl Quest+ and First Press members.
Think of it as the knowledgeable person at the record store counter who has genuinely heard everything and found everything — and who waits to be asked before saying anything. When you ask, you get a real answer. Not an algorithm recommendation. Not a playlist generator. A specific, informed response from someone who has spent their existence thinking about records.
Ask The Curator about an artist's discography, which pressing of an album is worth hunting for, where to start with a genre you've been meaning to explore, or what to play after a record you love. It listens, thinks, and answers like a trusted advisor.

Vinyl Quest beta runs as a mobile-optimized web app — it works on any device through your browser. iPhone, Android, desktop, tablet. No download required. Open your browser, go to the app, and you're in.

In vinyl collecting, a "first pressing" is the original manufacturing run of a record — made closest to the source, before the compromises of scale. First pressings are rarer, more valuable, and more connected to the original intent of the music. They're worth finding.
First Press is Vinyl Quest's founding member program. The name is intentional. First Press members are the collectors who found Vinyl Quest early — before the scale, before the noise, at the source.

Beta is not a limited demo. It is the real app, with real features, used by real collectors. The difference from a full launch is that some features are still being refined and new ones are being added regularly based on beta feedback.

Yes. Your collection, Quest List, reviews, profile, and everything you build during beta carries over to full launch. Beta is not a throwaway test environment — it is the real platform. What you build during beta is yours.
Tell us. Beta feedback is the most valuable thing a beta user can give. Use the contact form, select Beta Feedback as the subject, and describe what you found. Every report gets read and most get acted on.
First Press founding members have a direct line to the founder. If something isn't working or something is missing that matters to you, say so. The platform gets better because of exactly that kind of feedback.
Discogs import is on the roadmap for post-beta. During beta, your Collection Vault is built by adding records through Vinyl Quest's search — which draws on the Discogs database, so the records are all there, just added through the Vinyl Quest interface.
